I do a lot of search engine optimization myself and have found that it does work. It does help on one of my sites as some search engines do find it hard to read file.php?blah=hello and file.php?blah=goodbye so I have used a .htaccess file and MOD_REWRITE to make them file/hello and file/goodbye and search engines really work well on them. Just a tip for other readers.
