Forums are another great way to get a lot of free traffic and inbound links around the website.  By posting on forums you can place your links in your signature plate and reach an entire different audience then you might by the random people stopping by.  Many forums also will show your last post, which can help your link get more views, in turn helping your blog get more views.  There are many different forums all over the net, but for the best results you should choose forums that deal with the products or topics you discuss on your blog.  Some general forums you can visit to get started are the SitePoint Forums and the Search Engine Forums.  The Search Engine Forums are great places to learn about SEO tactics, which also will help you garnish more free traffic on your blog.

Blog Commenting

Somewhat in line with forums, you can also get more traffic by commenting on other people’s blogs.  Small bloggers in particular, will be happy to see comments on their page that are well thought out and meaningful, and will feel inspired to return the favor by posting on your blog in return.  You may not get an extreme about of extra traffic since it is going to correlate with how many people’s blogs you comment on, but as an added bonus it will help you get some exposure around the web.  If you continually comment on another blogger’s site, you can also ask to link your pages together, which will open your link up to more of an audience.  Many people who read the blog you are linked in will check out yours also as a recommended source.
