The Discrepancies and Similarities of Google Page Rank and Google Search Results
Wednesday, November 12, 2008 18:50Many people have the misconception that receiving a high Google Page Rank will assure them top billing in search results on the popular search engine, however, while this is the case many times, it is not the Golden Rule. In fact, it is possible to have a lower Google Page Rank and still rank high in Google search results, mainly because what determines a page rank and what determines an overall search engine result ranking is a different set of components. Now, it is true that things such as inbound links and article marketing is important in both of these areas, there are smaller areas in between that can have larger effects overall in the SEO business.
If you look closely at what a Google Page Rank is, it simply is the amount of links that you have both inbound and back linked around the web that will lead people back to your website. It is commonly perceived that the more people are linked to your website, the more authority your website most have among professionals in your website topic area, therefore you receive a higher Page Rank. However, your page rank and links are only going to make up about 50% of what is important when it comes down to your final search result ranking, which is why you can have a high Page Rank and still not be the top search result.
There are a few other things that can play a role in your search engine ranking as well that your page rank will not take into account, such as the occurrence of keywords and their placements throughout your website and article marketing. This is why SEO typically also concentrates on the unique and natural placement of common keywords throughout a website; because the more they appear the more valid your website will appear as a search result, thus boosting your overall search engine ranking.
This holds true rather the keywords you are seeking are widely known in the Google world, or not so competitive keywords that are more specialized to an area. (Ex. Michigan vacations versus Lake Hubbard Michigan vacations) There is a large amount of proof that shows effective article marketing will help boost your overall Google PageRank and help you get farther up in the Google search rankings. However, there is also significant proof that depending upon the frequency and popularity of your keywords that article marketing is not enough in all cases to get you the search engine results you want and expect.
So what does this mean for you? Well, as you already may know this means that inbound links and article marketing with keywords are both effective ways of boosting your website popularity. It also means that they are by no means the final answer or solution to working your way into the top of the search results page and that if you see them as such you may not receive the results you anticipated and/or expected.
