Work at Home – Friend or Foe?

With numerous residence based occupations in newspaper advertisement these days, I’m sure bored housewives or fed-up employees wanting to be their own boss are itching to get their hands on starting a business from the security of their residence.

However, it is imperative to realize that as we advance into a more develop world, hoaxes unfortunately become equally elaborate. To name a few common fraudulent activities are pyramid schemes, assembly jobs and envelope filling.

Pyramid scams are high up on the no-no list. The concept is to send some cash to the individual listed first (top of the pyramid) in order to climb above them so that you will be one at the receiving end. Sadly, this is not always the case.

Assembly jobs
as well as envelope filling stands on a see-saw between being legitimate and outright fraudulent so do your investigations before throwing yourself off the boat. The former also requires a deposit with guarantee of high returns.

All sounds good until the day you send your work for review and the response you get is that you do not meet the criterion. So not only you have wasted your time and effort, you lose the deposit as well. Envelope filling on the hand is an ornate name for sending chain letters.

A similar request for a deposit is demanded and subsequently your reward is a letter telling you to advertise for the similar job. The outcome; lost of money and no income.

Nevertheless not everything falls into the above situation as there are genuine business prospect in working from home. There are authentic envelope filling companies such as Direct Mail Businesses, and business may be promising. So remember always to look before you take the plunge into the world of working from home.
